Accreditation & Certification:

Q. Is the Virginia University of Science & Technology (VUST) accredited or certified?

A.  The Virginia University of Science & Technology is certified by State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV, www.schev.edu). VUST has been granted the “Certificate to Operate an Institution of Postsecondary Education” authorizing VUST to offer degrees, courses for degree credit, or programs of study leading to a degree or certificate in the Commonwealth of Virginia”.

VUST  is not accredited by regional/national Accreditation Committees yet at this moment. However, VUST is planning to obtain accreditation through the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), an accreditation agency recognized by the U.S Department of Education.

But, that VUST designed Master Degree of Science in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance program (MSCIA) and other graduate level professional certification programs: Master Certification of Operation Assurance (MCOA), and Master Certification of System Cybersecurity (MCSC) are highly qualified and these programs would compare the same programs with any other accredited universities in the United States and in the world. Our curriculums are the first-class. All VUST professors who teach Master degree and graduate certification programs have a Ph.D. degree in the teaching field from top universities, such as Columbia University, Princeton University, MIT, Washington University, University of Ultra, and etc..  Most important, all these professors are currently professors at the top American universities or experts in the Cybersecurity and serve as Chief Scientist, Chief Project Engineering, Senior Technical Director, Chief of Network Architect, etc. in the well-known IT international corporations or Federal Governmental Agencies. These professor will bring the cutting-edge technology and first-hand skills to our students. VUST also provide the world-class iCloud Cyber Security Lab to out students.


Degrees and Programs

Q. What degree program does VUST provide?

A. At this time, VUST only offers one Master Degree of Science Program, it is Master of Science in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance. For detail information, please visit out website:  The Degree and Graduate Certification Programs offered by the College of Cybersecurity.

VUST may offer other programs in future when the new programs are approved by SCHEV.

Q. What graduate certification programs does VUST provide?

Q. Does VUST offer any undergraduate programs?

A. No. VUST may offer some undergraduate programs in future when the new programs are approved by SCHEV.

Q. Does MSCIA program required students take more computer courses if the students who are no Computer Science Major in their Bachelor degree program?

A. Yes. VUST students required to take a diagnostic test before they are admitted to enroll MSCIA program if the students are not Computer Science students in their Bachelor program.  Then Academic Advisory Committee will determine how many and what courses the students should be taken before they enroll as formal MSCIA graduate students.


Online Learning

Q. Can I take my program online?

A. No. all programs are delivered 100% face-to-face in state-of-the-arts classroom. However, VUST may provide portion of our programs online after SCHEV approved in future. VUST will announce it when online program is available with SCHEV approval.

Q. Will I be required to attend any classes on campus?

A. Yes. At this moment, all courses are teaching in face-to-face state-of-the-arts classroom in Tysons campus.  VUST will announce it when VUST online courses are approved by SCHEV in future.


Tuition, Fees and Cost

Q. How much is tuition at the Virginia University of Science & Technology?

A. Tuition is $575 per semester credit.

Q. What is the cost of each course?

A. Tuition for each three credit course are $1,725.

Q. What fees are need to be paid during my study at VUST?

Q. What do books cost?

A. The estimated average cost of books per course is $80 – $150, depended on the courses and professor required.

Q. What is the total cost of my program?

A. Your total program cost will vary, depending on the number of credits in your chosen program of study, (e.g., degree, graduate certificate etc.) cost of books, applicable fees (which are described in the catalog), the number of transfer credits awarded, if any, and the amount of financial aid awarded, if applicable.

For example, for Master of Science in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance, it required 45 credit hours, so the tuition will be 45 x $575 = $25,875, plus application fee, register fee, brooks , etc. However, the University offer scholarship for outstanding students, Virginia residents also are qualified for some State scholarship, all these would reduce the total cost significantly.

In-State, Out-State and International Students

Q. There are a different tuition between in-state, out-state and international students?

A.  No, all the same.

Q. Does VUST accept International Students?,

A.  No. VUST cannot accept any international students at this time.

VUST is applying the F-Visa Certification from The Department of Homeland Security now.

VUST will announce it when F-Visa certification is approved by DHS and SCHEV.
