Academic Expert Committee (AEC)

The Academic Expert Board is a volunteer and advisory group at VUST

EAD2Committee members consist of senior professors at VUST and external experts who are professors in  Accredited American Universities or other well-known international Universities, as well as representatives from students. They are committed to helping VUST maintain a standard of excellence in education.

The Committee oversees the academic quality for degree and non-degree programs at VUST, including supervising, monitoring, evaluating, and improving all academic programs at VUST.  This committee is under the supervision and direction of the President and reports to both President and the VUST Board of Directors & Trustees, to assure that all programs meet the requirements of SCHEV, Accreditation Organization, and US Department of Education, as well as with the needs of the community of students. It also reviews and approves all applications for VUST degrees.

Functions:

The Academic Advisory Committee oversees the academic quality for degree and non-degree programs at VUST.

The committee reviews and approves curriculums for each course and ensure requirements of the Regional Accreditation Committee or SACSCOC are met.

This committee is under the supervision and direction of the President and reports to the VUST Board of Directors & Trustees through the President, to ensure that all programs meet the requirements of SCHEV, Accreditation Organization, and U.S. Department of Education, to meet with the needs of the community of students.

The committee reviews and recommends all candidates for VUST degrees to be approved by the BOD.

The AEB considers and recommends the addition or removal of academic programs, EAD6departments, and colleges to be approved by the BOD.

Term:

Each member will serve for three years except student members (one year term) and can be renewed for additional terms.

Dr. Harry Wechsler, AEC Member, Ph.D. in Computer Science, Professor and  Director for the Distributed and Intelligent Computation Center at George Mason University (GMU). Dr, Wechsler is IEEE Fellow and IAPR Fellow.
